Just thinking about the work flow for filming with the 333. Maybe it can be possible to have the ability to save all your camera settings to a file? This file could be saved in the camera memory or on the HD. Then perhaps put all the pre filming settings on the same page/tab. At this time you need to go through almost all of the tabs & make one change on each ;-).

For example perhaps for me would be for pre recording tab:

Frame rate recording (ability to set the frame rate & have the frame size alter automatically to either 4:3 or 16:9)

Frame rate of the display (I have it at ¼)

Frame size (auto change the streamer frame rate to match that of the camera then have the option to modify?). Make it so you can alter the frame size with the keypad like before. I can not figure out how to do a custom image size.

File size of each recording.

Quality setting.

While filming it would be handy to know:

Space remaining on the HD perhaps with an estimate of the time remaining based on the average file length?

Steam quality (it would be good to be able to see the frames being recorded like with the Mencoder so you know if your dropping frames).

Being able to save the settings would probably be the best option of all though!

Auto Exposure: Ability to fine tune the auto exposure while being able to see a full screen image. I think a manually adjustable auto exposure would be the most widely used tool while filming. The Auto exposure seems a little unpredictable at times. Perhaps its possible to make it work in a way that was not so noticeable?

Filming tips & tricks...hmm Make sure you have at least 1gb of memory! Set the dynamic external drive setting on for your Hard disk from the Knoppix menu Use a dedicated Fat32 hard drive that you can format after you have transfered the captured avi video. To focus set the frame size small & run the streamer. This zooms in on a small section of the sensor window & allows you to fine focus in real time. Set the file size to 500 - 1gb. Use virtualDubMod with stream copy set to make a lossless avi in windows. Install a Mjpeg codec (i use morgan) if you want to edit the 333 mjpeg ogm files in something like Sony Vegas.
