Net-Boot mode

There are two methods of putting your camera in net-boot mode, depending on a small hardware revision made in 2008. These are the 'net-boot switch' method, and the more recent 'no switch' method.

Net-boot Switch Method:

If your camera has a small green dot beneath the network connector on the back of the camera, it most likely has the net-boot switch installed, and this is the button that you will need to press to get into net-boot mode. (Note: some recent cameras still have the green dot, but do not have the switch installed. Please contact us if you are unsure if your camera has this switch) To enter net-boot mode, press the small green button gently until you feel a light click. Hold this button in place while you insert the network cable. Keep the button pressed until you see the network LED's blinking.

No Switch Method:

If your camera does not have a green dot on the back, or if you do not feel a small click when pressing on the green dot, then your camera is most likely a more recent revision, and does not need the switch to be put in net-boot mode. To put these cameras in net-boot mode, just plug the network cable into the camera and count to three, then remove the cable and count to three again. Repeat this process at least five times. If this is done correctly, then when the cable is plugged in for the last time, a few seconds later the network LED's will begin to blink very quickly.

How do I know that the camera is in net-boot mode?

To confirm that your camera is in net-boot mode, look carefully at the network LED's. If the camera is in net-boot mode, the yellow LED on the network jack will light up solid, and the green LED on the network connector will be flashing very quickly (much faster than normal). This indicates that the camera is properly in net-boot mode and is ready for reflashing. If the LED's do not light up, or if the yellow LED lights up, and the green LED is blinking slowly or not at all, then please unplug the camera for about ten seconds, and then please repeat the process described above for your camera revision.
